he students of 3rd Grade of our school watched
a movie on “Cyberbullying”. They
were given handouts with questions and were asked to write their opinions. Here
are their views:
1. Have you ever been a victim of cyberbullying?
ü Most
of the students haven’t, but some of their friends have.
ü They
suffered cyberbullying when chatting with strangers and they were offended.
ü They
suffered cyberbullying when others wrote inappropriate comments about them.
ü Students
think it is a very hard and inconvenient situation.
2. Why do you think it is hard for someone to speak up
when they are being bullied?
Because they are
ü Scared
ü Afraid
of others’ reactions
ü Anxious
ü Lonely
ü Shy
ü Inferior
ü Embarrassed
about the fact that they are being bullied
3. Digital
Drama can happen because we sometimes thrive on the gossip. It doesn’t feel
real because you usually never see the person you are talking to face- to-face.
Was there ever a time when rumor has
hurt you? What did you do about it?
ü First
calm down, if the problem continues, talk to my family
ü Ignore
it, feel indifferent
ü Convince
themselves that it will not affect my life
ü Make
the bullies feel worst with themselves
ü Consult
an attorney
4. What is one thing you could do to help you and your
friends delete “Digital Drama"?
ü Constantly
encourage them
5. What kind of information should remain private online?
ü Our
photos
ü Our
address
ü Our
mobile phones
ü Our
city
6. Sometimes
having an “ Esteem Team” can help you get through
being bullied. An “ Esteem Team” is someone you trust, and can rely on. Who is on your
“ Esteem Team”?
ü My
mother: she can understand and advise me to end the situation
ü My
family if the problem is serious
ü My
friends or siblings if the problem is less serious
ü My
school
ü Specialists
to work out a solution together
ü The
police
ü A stranger
who suffers the same problem as you
ü I
can handle the problems on my own
ü An
“ Esteem Team” is not necessary: believe in your power
7. Taking Action:
ü Face
the problem, counter cyberbullies
ü Delete
your profile
ü Delete
the bullies
ü Make
a new account
ü Add
the persons you know
ü Block
the people who hurt you
ü Join
a support group
ü Turn
to an expert, a psychologist to “smooth” the problem
ü Report
it to the police
ü Become
extrovert, communicate with your friends from school
ü Learn
it, beat the bullies up!!!?
ü Don’t
trust everyone you talk to
ü Go
